Between Meals: An Appetite for Paris
Categories: Biographies & Memoirs, Cookbooks, Food & Wine
New Yorker writer A. J. Liebling recalls the meals he ate in Paris in the 1920s and 1930s and the people he ate them with. Liebling describes modest restaurants and grand feasts, cheap wine and great vintages, and the waiters, cooks and friends who shaped his education in eating. He argues that a good appetite is the foundation of good writing about food. Published in 1962, the book is considered a classic of food literature and a portrait of a vanished Paris.
