Ashley's War is Gayle Tzemach Lemmon's account of a team of women soldiers who served with special operations forces in Afghanistan. In 2011, the U.S. Army created Cultural Support Teams to accompany Army Rangers and Green Berets on night raids, where they could speak with Afghan women. Lemmon follows the women who joined, including First Lieutenant Ashley White, who was killed in action.
