All Will Be Well (2006; published in Britain as Memoir, 2005) is Irish novelist John McGahern's memoir of his childhood and youth in rural County Leitrim and beyond. McGahern recalls his close bond with his mother, a schoolteacher who died when he was a boy, and his difficult life with his father, a police sergeant. He follows his path to teaching and writing, and the banning of his novel The Dark in 1965, after which he lost his teaching job.
