All's Well That Ends Well

By William Shakespeare

Categories: Drama, Literature & Fiction

In this comedy by Shakespeare, first printed in the 1623 First Folio, Helena, the orphaned daughter of a physician, cures the ailing King of France with one of her father's remedies. As her reward she asks to marry Bertram, the young Count of Rossillion. Bertram, who considers her beneath him, flees to the wars in Italy, and Helena sets out to win him by ingenuity. Critics often group the play among Shakespeare's problem plays.
