A Good Provider Is One Who Leaves (2019) is journalist Jason DeParle's account of three generations of a Filipino family and the age of global migration. In 1987 DeParle moved into a Manila shantytown with Tita Comodas and her five children, whose father worked abroad in Saudi Arabia. Over three decades he follows the family as relatives work around the world, focusing on Tita's daughter Rosalie, a nurse who works across the Middle East before moving to Texas.
