A Court of Thorns and Roses (2015) by Sarah J. Maas is a fantasy novel and the first book in a series of the same name. Nineteen-year-old Feyre hunts in the woods to keep her poor family from starving. When she kills a wolf, a beast-like faerie demands payment and takes her across the wall into Prythian, the magical land of the fae. Living on his estate, she begins to see her captor differently as a dark threat spreads across his world.
