18 Poems

By Dylan Thomas

Categories: Literature & Fiction

Dylan Thomas's debut collection was published in December 1934, a month after his twentieth birthday. The Sunday Referee, a London newspaper whose poetry column had printed several of his poems, sponsored the volume and issued it jointly with the Parton Bookshop. The eighteen poems explore birth, love and death in dense, rhythmic language. Its opening poem is "I see the boys of summer," and the slim volume carried no author portrait or introduction.
